Contemporary and Post-Traditional Performances

In addition to performing traditional wayang kulit shadow puppetry, Kanda Buwana has also created and performed contemporary and post-traditional productions, including those listed below.

2011    A Dalang in Search of Wayang. Solo performer in a contemporary wayang with Javanese shadow puppets and storytelling. Premiered at the Festival of Asian Theatre in Thessaloniki, Greece on 5 February 2011; with subsequent performances at the Centre for Creative Collaboration (London, UK); the Puppetry and Post-Dramatic Performance Conference at the University of Connecticut (USA); Brown University (USA); Buxton Puppet Festival (UK); Indonesia Kontemporer Festival (SOAS, London, UK);  Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (The Netherlands); and Institut Studi Islam Fahmina (Cirebon, Indonesia).
